The MOYA-Museum of Young Art was founded 2005 in Vienna, Austria. It was the first museum worldwide exclusively devoted to 21st-century young art It is founded & owned by the swiss and german art historian and art manager Dr. Kolja Kramer. The MOYA presents artworks produced after the year 2000 only. At MOYA there is a great interest in actual tendencies and on what comes next. Also the early work of artists is valued. Even though very young artists are chosen for participation as well the average age of represented artists in MOYA-exhibitions is 33 according to statistics. Mainly artists exhibit that have left their academies and have shown and proved afterwards great activity and continuity as well. Discovering famous artists and presenting another time their positions of the past is not the main intention of the MOYA. Artists do not have to be fully established. A risk with regard to long term art historical relevance is consciously taken at a very early stage of artist careers for the sake of art historical speculation with great pleasure.
In the last years the MOYA presented contemporary Young Art with a focus on regional art from Vienna, Austria and its neighbouring countries. The MOYA functioned as a gate the east with its many exhibitions and artists from Eastern Europe. The annual show `Young Art Europe´ and Young Art Global´ regularly has put the regional context in a broader spatialtemporal perspective with international artists from all over the world. The MOYA is closely related to the diplomatic circle in Vienna and collaborated with many cultural institutes and specialised art institutions in the countries. In 2014 the MOYA received the Flame of Peace an award given by members of the Habsburg family for contributions to world peace.
The following countries were already represented in the MOYA by young artists - in cooperation with ministries, embassies, cultural institutes and public and private art institutions, galleries and art companies:
Algeria, Andorra, Austria, Azerbaijan, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, China, Colombia, Costa Rica, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Estonia, Germany, Greece, Guatemala, Hungary, India, Iran, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Luxemburg, Malaysia, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Panama, Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Saudi Arabia, Slovakia, Syria, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, Ukraine.
Due to the actual situation in the world the MOYA now is dedicating its time and activities to PEACE. Having left the former location and planned the new location for 2020 the MOYA actually is on a POP UP ART TOUR FOR PEACE 2018-19.
